Screenwriter Dave Martin Dies

British screenwriter Dave Martin died of cancer on 10 April. Born in 1935 in Birmingham, England, he wrote 15 episodes of the 1970s’ Doctor Who series, as well as one episode last year for the new series. Most of his writing was in collaboration with partner Bob Baker. Together, they created the Doctor’s robotic canine companion, K9, for “The Invisible Enemy.”
He also wrote for the short-lived 1976 series, Sky, 1977’s King of the Castle, Into the Labyrinth (1982), and Succubus (1987).
