You liked the show better than I did. I thought the Amanda Tapping character was pompous without being interesting. The mute monster-servant was a pathetic cliche. The impetuous but lovable daughter was, in fact, merely childish. The cowardly but lovable tech geek was another thoughtless cliche. The only mildly interesting character was Jack the Ripper and his relationship to the doctor and her daughter was so obvious and so contrived as to be insulting. And having him be Jack the Ripper made no sense at all. They came up with a premise, then played fill in the blanks to make it a show. There was no attempt whatever at creativity or even wit. The world will be a better place as soon as this self-consciously dull waste of time fades away. |

I've known Hannu for several years -- we live in the same city and attend(ed) the same local writers workshop -- and *I* think Simon Spanton made the right move; I believe Hannu is going to be the biggest thing to hit hard SF in the next decade. |

Agreed on all counts. I love the show, but it annoys me that the John Connor we see in Season Two isn't the John Connor we were promised in Season One. After Cameron was blown up in the Season One finale and had her programming scrambled, I expected John to focus on the seriousness of his situation. He should have started filling the shoes of Future John, not running away. Worse, the introduction of Riley only serves to pull John even farther away from what the audience was promised. |
