Pyr now open to some unagented submissions; hires new editorial assistant

By Ian Randal Strock

Editorial Director Lou Anders of Pyr SF has decided he has way too much free time. So he's just announced that Pyr is now accepting unagented submissions. But hold on! Before you hit that "send" button, be sure to read the guidelines.

Pyr is only reading unagented submissions in "the subgenres of epic fantasy, sword & sorcery, and contemporary/urban fantasy." Their needs for horror, science fiction, and slipstream are being met by agented submissions, so they're not opening up those subgenres to the great, unagented masses. Complete manuscripts only, e-mail only, and… well, read the guidelines.

Parallel with the announcement, Anders also announces the hiring of a new editorial assistant slash slush reader: Rene Sears, who will be the official slush reader for unagented submissions.
