DayBreak Magazine's first competition

By Ian Randal Strock

Since we announced the launch of DayBreak Magazine in this article, editor/publisher Jetse de Vries has continued offering new stories, most recently "The Gender Plague" by K.D. Wentworth and "The Branding of Shu Mei Feng" by Amanda Clark.

de Vries has also launched the magazine's first competition, with entries due by 15 December. Winners (and the correct answers) will be announced on 18 December. The competition is open to readers worldwide, but only to those of legal drinking age, since the main prizes are: a bottle of Frapin Cigar Blend cognac, Highland Park whiskey, Springbank whiskey, Glengoyne Port Cask Finish whiskey, Peter Lehman The Futures Shiraz red wine, Casa Planeta Anniversary Selection red wine, Torres Celeste red wine, Catena Alta Chardonnay, DeLoach Chardonnay, and Menetou-Salon AC sauvignon blanc. In addition to those top 10 alcoholic prizes, the top 20 finishers will receive t-shirts and copies of de Vries's Shine anthology (which was the inspiration for DayBreak).

To enter the competition, you'll have to read 16 story fragments, and determine for each the correct next line (from a selection of four possibilities). In addition, you'll need to guess the authors of the stories. Most right answers wins.

For full descriptions of the prizes, see this article. The full rules to enter the competition are here. And the fragments you'll be solving are in this article.
