Top Box Office Grossers: Third Week of November 2009

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 13-19 November 2009. New disaster porn flick 2012 destroyed the box office, plowing up $81.7 million. Disney's animated A Christmas Carol got pushed down to #2, scaring up $26.6 million, for a two-week total of $67.6 million. The Men Who Stare at Goats held steady at #3 dragging in $7.7 million, for a two-week total of $24.9 million. The Fourth Kind slipped from #4 to #6, grabbing $5.8 million, for a two-week total of $21.6 million. Paranormal Activity fell from #5 to #8, taking in $5.0 million, for an eight-week total box office take of $104.7 million. The Box fell from #6 to #10, earning $4.0 million, for a two-week total of $14.0 million.

Where the Wild Things Are fell #9 to #12, taking in $3.0 million, for a five-week total of $74.0 million. Astro Boy fell from #10 to #13, grossing $2.0 million, for a four week total of $18.2 million. The Stepfather fell from #14 to #17, scaring up $1.0 million, for a five-week total of $29.0 million. Saw VI fell from #12 to #21, cutting out $600 thousand, for a four-week total of $27.6 million. Zombieland fell from #16 to #22, taking in $500 thousand, for a seven-week total of $74.5 million. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs fell from #15 to #23, grabbing $350 thousand, for a nine-week total of $122.1 million. The new animated Fantastic Mr. Fox doesn't officially open until this Wednesday, but still managed to pull in $350 thousand in four theatres this week. Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant fell from #17 to #25, grossing $350 thousand, for a four-week total of $13.8 million.
