SFPA's 2009 Online Halloween Poetry Reading

By Ian Randal Strock

President Deborah P. Kolodji tells us that "Once more, the Science Fiction Poetry Association has hosted an online Halloween poetry reading of poems by its members." This year, in addition to the poems (downloadable as MP3 or WAV files), there's also artwork illustrating the readings.

The posted poems include:
"Ariadne's Thank You Note" by Gwynne Garfinkle (first published in Space & Time)
"The Golem of Red Bean Paste" by Peg Duthie (this is the poem's first appearance)
"O.D." by J.C. Runolfson (Goblin Fruit)
"Dr. Holt's House of Hormones" by Karen A. Romanko (Aberrant Dreams)
"The Armadillos of Castle Dracula" by David Lee Summers (first appearance)
"She's in the Ice" by David C. Kopaska-Merkel (Strange Horizons)
"Casual Friday" by Marcie Lynn Tentchoff (Star*Line)
"O is for October" by Stephen M. Wilson (Wicked Karnival: Halloween Horror)
"FAQ" by Mary Turzillo (Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet)
"Monsters" by Geoffrey A. Landis (Asimov's Science Fiction)
"Opening Scenes" by John S. Tumlin (Star*Line)
"A Bloody Baker's Dozen" by G.O. Clark (Mortician's Tea)
"Dead Air" by Julia Rios (first appearance)
"Ophelia's Moon" by Ann K. Schwader (The Worms Remember)
"Halloween at the End of the Universe" by Elizabeth W. Bennefeld (first appearance)
"A Crisis of Forest" by Sandra Lindow (Asimov's Science Fiction)

The art accompanying these poems is by Liz Bennefeld, Lyn C.A. Gardner, David Kopaska-Merkel, Rich Martens, Julia Rios, and Karen Romanko.

The Halloween poetry reading and gallery is available on this page.
