Gaiman & Vess's "Instructions" sells to Harper Children's

By Ian Randal Strock

Neil Gaiman's "Instructions" will be illustrated by Charles Vess and become a book. Elise Howard at Harper Children's bought the project for publication in May 2010. Agents on the deal were Merrilee Heifetz of Writers House representing Gaiman, and Joe Monti at Barry Goldblatt Literary representing Vess.

"Instructions" is "a charming guide through fairy and folktales, as well as life." It was first published in A Wolf at the Door (edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling in 2000), and is available on Endicott Studio's web site.

Gaiman talks more about the collaboration in this post. Vess offers some of his drawings from the work in progress here.
