Flash Fiction Online's June 2009 issue

By Ian Randal Strock

Editor Jake Freivald writes to tell us that the June 2009 issue of Flash Fiction Online is now available. The site is "not dedicated to speculative fiction, but we tend to publish a lot of it. Authors we have published include Jay Lake, Carl Frederick, Eric Garcia, Bruce McAllister, Mike Resnick, and James Van Pelt." For the writers, he notes "we pay pro rates and have SFWA accreditation." The zine has been around for a year and a half, and offers the content for free, either on the web, via RSS feed, or as an email subscription.

The June issue features:
"Branwen's Revenge" by Sarah Adams (a retelling of the ancient Welsh legend of Branwen the White)
"Atypical Research" by Shelly Rae Rich (a story about a scientifically oriented man who meets his antithesis in a beautiful woman)
"At Both Ends" by K.C. Ball (a story about an unlikely superhero)
"The Kiss" by Kate Chopin (a classic flash dating from the late 1800s)
"Short-Short Sighted: Writing the Short-Short Story" by Bruce Holland Rogers (the twelfth column in a series), which is paired with a story Rogers previously published in Analog called "Visions of Gingerbread"
