Sandi Tan's first novel tells the ghost history of Singapore

By Ian Randal Strock

Sandi Tan sold The Black Isle to Mitch Hoffman at Grand Central Publishingvia agent Barbara Braun. The book is a "ghost history" of Singapore, "in which an
elderly psychic recounts her amazing role in the growth of the city
state from a backward island haunted by countless spirits to a sleek
center of world finance."

The author is Singaporean, but now lives in Pasadena, California.
