WFC soliciting nominations for World Fantasy Awards

By Ian Randal Strock

The World Fantasy Convention has mailed out nominating ballots for this year's World Fantasy Awards. Each year, convention members are offered the opportunity to nominate up two of the entries in each category on the awards ballot (and then the judges add three or more). Winners will be announced at the convention, which this year will be celebrating Edgar Allan Poe's 200th Birthday in San Jose, California, from 29 October to 1 November.

Nominating ballots must be postmarked by 30 June 2009 (or e-mailed by that date) to Rodger Turner, 70 Fourth Ave, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 2L2 Canada. Nominations are accepted in nine categories, including Life Achievement, Novel, Novella (10,000-40,000 words), Short Fiction (less than 10,000 words), Anthology, Collection, Artist, Special Award—Professional, and Special Award—Non-Professional. All nominated material must have been published in or have a 2008 cover date.

[Edited 12 March: Michael Walsh reports that the ballot is available as a download from the WFC web site.]
