British actor Edmund Purdom dies

British actor Edmund Purdom died 1 January 2009 at his home in Rome, Italy. Born 19 December 1924 in Hertfordshire, England, he made his stage debut in 1945, moved to Italy in the 1960s, and spent many years as a voice dubbing actor, translating European (mostly Italian) movies into English.

His genre roles include: Titanic: The Animated Movie (2001), I Cavalieri che fecero l'impresa (The Knights of the Quest, 2001), The Seventh Scroll (1999), The Rift (1990), Fracchia contro Dracula (1985), Don't Open 'Til Christmas (which he also directed, 1984), 2019—Dopo la caduta di New York (After the Fall of New York, 1983), Ator l'invincibile (Ator, the Fighting Eagle< 1982), Horror Safari (1982), Mil gritos tiene la noche (Pieces, 1982), Rosso sangue (Monster Hunter, 1981), Incubo sulla città contaminata (City of the Walking Dead, 1980), A Matter of Time (1976), Il Medaglione insanguinato (The Night Child, 1975), Terror! Il castello delle donne maledette (Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks, 1974), Los Ojos siniestros del doctor Orloff (1973), L'Amante del demonio (The Devil's Lover, 1972), Giornata nera per l'ariete (Evil Fingers, 1971), and Thomas e gli indemoniati (Thomas and the Bewitched, 1970).

Purdom was married four times, and had two children with his second wife.
