Actor Don Galloway Dies

Actor Don Galloway died 8 January 2009 following a stroke. Born 27 July 1937 in Kentucky, he was best known for playing Detective Sergeant Ed Brown on the tv series Ironside. To research the role, he spent a lot of time with Los Angeles Police Department officers, and in 1993, he becme a reserve deputy for the San Bernardino County Sherriff's Department (for about a year).

His genre appearances include: two episodes of Knight Rider (1983, 1985), four episodes of Fantasy Island (1980-84), Automan (1983), Satan's Mistress (1982), Mork & Mindy (1979), Gemini Man (1976), and Riding with Death (1976).

He served in the US Army for two years, and then graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in drama in 1961. In 1962, he made his off-Broadway debut in Bring Me Home a Warm Body, and from there, moved into television roles. After retiring from acting, he moved to New Hampshire and wrote a weekly column for the Manchester Union Leader in 2004.

He is survived by his second wife, Linda Marie, as well as two children from his first marriage, two stepchildren, three grandchildren, and his brother, Paul.
