Majel Barrett Roddenberry's Memorial Service to be open to the public

By Ian Randal Strock

More information on Majel Barrett Roddenberry's death. Specifically, her family has announced that her memorial service will be open to the public at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills (Los Angeles), California. The service will be Sunday 4 January 2009 at 10AM in the Hall of Liberty. Attire is business casual, and as Roddenberry.com (where all the details are) says, "Majel hated to be bland, so please wear something colorful." See the web site for details, and to let them know how many people to expect, but remember that this is a time of mourning for her family.

Roddenberry was the widow of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, and died on 18 December 2008.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, her family requests that "a donation in Majel's name be made to one of the two following organizations, who share Majel's love for animals and dedication to animal rescue: Precious Paws (18034 Ventura Blvd, #430, Encino, CA 91316; 818-304-5595) or C.A.R.E. (PO Box 56631, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403; 818-685-9980)."
