Forrest J Ackerman suffers heart attack

By Ian Randal Strock

We've just received word that Forrest J Ackerman has suffered a serious heart attack, and, according to our correspondent, "is not expected to survive." We'll have more information when we know it.

Ackerman is an internationally known sf and movie fan and collector, and was the founder and editor of Famous Monsters of Filmland. He won a Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1997.

For more on Ackerman, who is also known as "Forry", "4e", and "4SJ", see his MySpace page or his Wikipedia entry.

[Edited 2 November 2008]: Further updates are available on The Classic Horror Film Board. It says, in part, that Ackerman is resting at home, and receiving cards and letters at:
Forrest J Ackerman
4511 Russell Ave
Los Angeles CA 90027
