First contact story suggestions for Marty Halpern's anthology result in three winners

By Ian Randal Strock

A month ago, in this article, editor Marty Halpern announced a contest to help him find the best first contact stories published in the last 30 years. He hasn't completed his search, but he is thanking all those who made suggestions: From those who submitted their favorite/best story (other than their own written work), he selected three winners at random. The three winners are:
Dennis Lien (Minneapolis, MN)
Steven H. Silver (Deerfield, IL)
J.H. Woodyatt (San Francisco, CA)

Each winner will receive a limited edition chapbook issued to promote the publication of Ian R. MacLeod's short fiction collection Breathmoss and Other Exhalations (Golden Gryphon Press, 2004). The chapbook is autographed by author Ian R. MacLeod and cover artist Bob Eggleton.

Thanks to all those who submitted suggestions.
