Help Save Superman's Birthplace

By Ian Randal Strock

Neil Gaiman reports that Brad Meltzer has formed The Siegel & Shuster Society in order to save and restore Jerry Siegel's house, the place where Superman was created. The organization is trying to raise money through, first, a celebrity charity auction, as well as sales of Society t-shirts and outright donations.

The web site tells the entire story, and Gaiman's FAQ (at the above link) fills in the blanks, so rather than recapitulating it all, we'll simply point you at those two links. Superman is an iconic part of sf history, and his "birthplace" may be an important site in years to come. This is one way to ensure that future.

[Edited 5 September to add this link to the Publishers Weekly article about the project.]
