Sidewise Award Winners

Awards secretary Steven H. Silver reports (in his comment to this article) that the winners of this year’s Sidewise Awards for Alternate History were announced yesterday at Denvention 3 this year’s World Science Fiction Convention.
The Sidewise Awards were founded in 1995 “to recognize the best alternate history of the year.” This year’s judges included Stephen Baxter, Nick Gevers, Evelyn Leeper, Jim Rittenhouse, Kurt Sidaway, Stu Shiffman, and Steven H. Silver.
The winners for Best Short Form (there was a tie):
“Quaestiones Super Caelo Et Mundo” by Michael Flynn (Analog, July 2007)
“Recovering Apollo 8” by Kristine Kathryn Rusch (Asimov’s, February 2007)
The winner for Best Long Form is:
The Yiddish Policemen’s Union by Michael Chabon (HarperCollins)

    Although Stephen Baxter is on the Jury, he did not become active until after this year’s winners were selected.
