Night Shade briefly reading unagented zombie novels

By Ian Randal Strock

Co-editor Jeremy Lassen of Night Shade Books writes that Night Shade "is actively seeking zombie novels. Romeroesque end of the world zombie apocalypse novels." He's asking for complete manuscripts as RTF or Word files, as long as they "don't suck", at jlassen at nightshadebooks dot com, using the subject line "Zombie Novel Submission." He's also emphatic that the open submission period for these novels is September and October 2008, only. Manuscripts received after 31 October will be deleted unread. For everything else (and under normal circumstances), Night Shade only accepts submissions from agents, so this is your chance, unagented zombie novelists.

The small press publisher is "dedicated to publishing quality books from a broad spectrum of genres. Writing that inspires a sense of awe and wonder. Writing that explores the fantastic. Writing that at once challenges and redefines a reader's expectations." Some of their newer releases include Incandescence by Greg Egan, Implied Spaces by Walter Jon Williams, and Jonathan Strahan's The Best Science Fiction and Fantasy of the Year, Volume 2.
