In honor of the upcoming US presidential election, Apex Publications is offering its Annual Halloween Short Fiction Contest, this year titled “Election Horror.” The contest will be guest-judged by Jay Lake.
The contest is open to “flash fiction” (stories under 1000 words) based on this year’s theme of “Election Horror.” Deadline is 11:59PM EST on 15 October 2008. First prize is publication at 10 cents a word; second prize is publication at 5 cents a word. Third and fourth prizes are books from Apex Book Company.
