New webzine Beneath Ceaseless Skies in the works

By Ian Randal Strock

Beneath Ceaseless Skies is a new online magazine "dedicated to publishing the best in 'literary adventure fantasy.'" Edited and published by Scott H. Andrews, BCS plans to "feature exciting stories set in awe-inspiring places that are told with all the skill and impact of modern literary-influenced fantasy." BCS plans to publish two stories per issue, and publish a new issue every two weeks, and e-mail notification or RSS feed annoucements are available when new, free issues are posted.

When Andrews opens to submissions (on 1 August), he'll be looking for original stories shorter than 10,000 words. He'll be paying five cents a word for first world serial rights and first world electronic rights, asking for 90 days exclusivity, and asking to maintain the story in their online archives. He expects to have a 6-to-8 week response time, and have posted fairly involved guidelines on this page.

The cover art for the first issue (excerpted in the banner posted here) is by Matts Minnhagen.

Andrews is a chemistry lecturer, an editor, a writer, and a beer bottle collector. He won a $1000 prize for literary fiction from the Briar Cliff Review, was a finalist in the Writers of the Future Contest, and sold fiction to Weird Tales.
