Hour of Wolf announces Thomas M. Disch tribute episode

By Ian Randal Strock

Jim Freund announces that the 26 July episode of his science fiction talk radio program, Hour of the Wolf, will be a special tribute to the recently deceased Thomas M. Disch. The show will feature Disch's last public appearance—a reading from his new novel, The Word of God, at the New York Review of Science Fiction Readings on 3 June 2008. In addition, Freund will be airing a brief radio drama based on Disch's "Fun With Your New Head" produced by Jim Freund and Frank Heller. He also plans to dig out some interview fragments culled from over the years.

Hour of the Wolf show airs from 5 to 7AM on New York City's WBAI 99.5 FM, and is streamed over the web at stream.wbai.org. After the live broadcast, shows are archived at hourwolf.com.

Hour of the Wolf has been heard on listener-sponsored Pacifica station WBAI since January 1972. Originally a general free-form talk show, the program has been dedicated to science fiction, fantasy, and related fields of endeavor since the early 1980s. Disch had been a semi-regular guest on the program with original host Margot Adler and then later with current host Jim Freund.
