Character auction for Autism Speaks

By Ian Randal Strock

Author John Hemry writes about another charity that needs support. He is one of a group of authors participating in "a character auction being held by Autism Speaks, a major private player in raising and distributing funding for autism research." The winners of the character auction will have characters named for them in an upcoming book by the author for whom they bid. A number of sf/f/h authors are participating in the auction, including Hemry and Elizabeth Moon, as well as non-genre authors such as Lee Child, Ken Follett, Jodi Picoult, and James Sallis. The main page (with links to all authors' auctions) is here.

Autism Speaks is "the charity committed to finding the causes of autism by biomedical research. Autism affects up to 1% of children and we believe it is vital to find out why, so we can seek solutions to improve the quality of life of those affected."
