2008 Rhysling nominees for sf poetry announced

The Science Fiction Poetry Association has announced the full list of nominees for this year's Rhysling Awards. The winners will be announced at Readercon, which will be held 17-20 July at the Burlingon Marriott, outside of Boston, Massachusetts. The Rhyslings are divided in "short poem" and "long poem" categories.

This year, there are 56 nominees in the short poem category, and 39 nominees in the long poem category. Authors appearing more than once on the ballot include: Mary Alexandra Agner (1 short, 1 long), Bruce Boston (1 short, 1 long), Kendall Evans (3 long), David C. Kopaska-Merkel (2 long), the team of Kendall Evans and David C. Kopaska-Merkel (1 long and 1 short), Drew Morse (1 long, 1 short), Misha Nogha (2 long, 1 short), Charles Saplak (1 long, 2 short), Marge Simon (1 long, 1 short), Sonya Taaffe (1 long, 2 short), Mikal Trimm (2 long), Mary Turzillo (2 short), and JoSelle Vanderhooft (4 long).

The publications with the greatest numbers of nominees are: Mythic Delirium (6 short, 3 long); Goblin Fruit (5 short, 3 long); Star*Line (4 short, 3 long); Lone Star Stories (4 short, 1 long); Helix (2 short, 2 long); Magazine of Speculative Poetry (3 short, 1 long); and Strange Horizons (4 short).
