Alpha Workshop for younger writers

By Ian Randal Strock

The seventh Alpha SF/F/H Workshop for Young Writers will again be held at the University of Pittsburgh's Greensburg Campus this July. Timed to coincide with Pittsburgh's Confluence science fiction convention (this year 25-27 July), the workshop will run from 16 to 25 July.

Alpha is designed for science fiction, fantasy, and horror writers aged 14 to 19. Attendance is limited to 20 participants, and the application deadline is 1 March. Tuition for the 10-day seminar is $950. This year's guest teacher-authors are Michael A. Arnzen, Christopher McKitterick, Tamora Pierce, and Timothy Zahn.

The workshop is coordinated and directed by author Diane Turnshek.
