By Ian Randal Strock

Variety reports the top 25 movies for the week of 19-25 October in terms of box office take. New release 30 Days of Night opened in the number one spot, taking in more than $20.5 million. Re-release (ish) Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas in 3-D opened in seventh place, grossing $6.7 million.

The only genre film in the top 10 last week (it was #9) dropped to #17 as Resident Evil: Extinction took in $1.3 million for a five-week total of $50.3 million. Transformers is doing a remarkable job of transforming into money, as it dropped from #18 to #24 in its sixteenth week in release. It grossed $600 thousand this week to bring its total up near $318.5 million. And finally, The Seeker: The Dark is Rising is apparently falling, down from #11 to #25, grossing $600 thousand in its third week to bring its total take up to $8.3 million.
