New author Joseph Night sells film rights to first novel, The Doorman

By Ian Randal Strock

Joseph Night's unpublished first novel, The Doorman, was originally going to be released as a print-on-demand book, but Mark Headley just bought the film rights. According to Night's agent, Andrew Whelchel (of the National Writers Literary Agency), the sale of the film rights "has sparked a great deal of interest from traditional houses. We are also talking with several foreign publishers."

The Doorman is the story of a stuntman with no fear of death who is tricked into taking the grim reaper's place. Then he discovers he must find a replacement before time runs out, or he'll be the doorman forever.

Whelchel said of the sale "I'm always thrilled to see someone like Joe succeed. The marketplace is difficult for everyone, but a good idea is still king."

Headley has a long production career with many horror films to his credit. His full filmography is available here.
