New author Kristin Janz sells to Futurismic

By Ian Randal Strock

New author Kristin Janz sold her first story, "Veritas Nos Liberabit," to Futurismic, which expects to publish it in September or October.

Upon meeting Kristin at Readercon and learning of her sale, I asked her for something more than just the bare facts; something interesting about the story and about her. Thus, we have the first author sale which includes additional data:

Kristin says that the title of the story, "Veritas Nos Liberabit," was her high school's motto, but the story has nothing to do with her high school.

Of herself, she says "I once took the train from Hong Kong to St. Petersburg, a trip I recommend highly, except for the Mongolian vodka." She grew up on a farm, and learned to pluck chickens, gut fish, and identify edible wild mushrooms before the age of 10, and she has never lived more than 15 miles from the ocean.
