Actor Tom Poston Dies

Actor Tom Poston died after a short illness on 30 April 2007. Born as Thomas Gordon Poston in Columbus, Ohio, on 17 October 1921, he won an Emmy for his work on The Steve Allen Show in 1959. His first television appearance was in 1950; his last, last year. His first Broadway role came in Cyrano de Bergerac in 1946.

His genre appearances include movie roles in: Krippendorf's Tribe (1998), The Girl, the Gold Watch & Dynamite (1981), The Magnificent Magical Magnet of Santa Mesa (1977), and Zotz! (1962). He also appeared in genre tv series such as: Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show (1999), Touched by an Angel (1998), Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (1997), seven episodes of Mork & Mindy (1979-'80), Get Smart (1969), and Thriller (1961).

In addition to his acting career, Poston was also, variously, a pilot, an amateur boxer, a tumbler with the Flying Zebleys, an aspiring chemist and a panelist on the game show To Tell the Truth.
